Privacy Policy

In short
This is a free site for learning network protocols. We do not build profiles of our own and we do not sell data; apart from the items listed below, we collect nothing that identifies you personally.
Accounts and personal data
There is currently no account system on this site: no signup, no login, and we neither ask for nor store names, email addresses or phone numbers. The topologies you build, the simulations you run and the quizzes you answer are not tied to any identity. If we ever open registration, this page will be updated first — and what we would store is an email address and a bcrypt hash of the password, nothing more.
What is stored in your browser
Two things of our own:
- Your interface language (
mpls-lab-langin localStorage, eitherzhoren), so the site opens in the same language next time. - A session cookie (
JSESSIONID). The working state of the 21 labs — the topology you built, how far a simulation has run — lives in a server-side session, and this cookie is how the server recognises that session as yours. It holds no personal data, expires when you close the browser or go idle, and is not used for cross-site tracking.
Clearing your browser data removes both (at the cost of your language preference and any unsaved lab state).
Server logs
Like almost any website, the web server keeps access logs: client IP, timestamp, requested path, status code, user agent and referrer. They are used to debug problems and prevent abuse, kept for no more than 90 days, not used to profile you, and not sold or shared with third parties except where the law requires it.
Third parties: cookies and advertising
This site (ipnetmaster.com) stays free by carrying ads, and uses these Google services:
- Google Analytics, to see how many people visit, which pages they read and which content is useful. It sets its own cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. What we see is aggregated, not anyone’s identity.
- Google AdSense, which serves the ads on these pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Google processes that data as an independent controller under the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses cookies in advertising. We neither receive nor seek any personally identifying information from it.
All simulation is computed on our own server: the topologies you build, the simulations you run and the quizzes you answer are not forwarded to Google or to any other third party.
Your choices
- Turn off personalized ads in Google Ads Settings. You will still see ads, just not ones chosen from your interests.
- Opt out of many vendors at once at aboutads.info or youradchoices.com.
- Visitors in the EU and UK: under Google’s EU user consent policy you are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown or non-essential cookies are set. You can decline; the teaching content is unaffected.
- In your browser: you can block or clear cookies at any time. ⚠ With cookies blocked, lab state will not survive a reload (see
JSESSIONIDabove), but the lessons, glossaries and quizzes still work. - Access and deletion: to ask what the server logs hold about you, or to have it deleted, write to isppub.com@gmail.com.
Children
The site is aimed at network engineers, students and people preparing for certifications. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
Before adding a new third-party service or changing how data is used, we update this page and the “last updated” date above. Earlier versions are kept alongside the site’s source.
Contact
For privacy questions, access or deletion requests, email isppub.com@gmail.com — put “privacy” in the subject line and we will prioritise it.
